The Facebook page which posted the fake news of Christopher Lloyd’s death, explained in the post that, “At about 11 a.m. ET on Saturday (March 19, 2022), our beloved actor Christopher Lloyd passed away. Christopher Lloyd was born on October 22, 1938 in Stamford. He will be missed but not forgotten. Please show your sympathy and condolences by commenting on and liking this page.”

Hundreds of fans instantly began posting condolence notes on the Facebook page, expressing their regret at the death of the outstanding 83-year-old actor. And, as expected, the death hoax sent the Twittersphere into a frenzy.

Whereas some trusting followers believed the post, others were wary right away, possibly having learned their lesson from the slew of fake celebrity death rumors that have surfaced in recent months. Some speculated that the news had not been broadcast on any major American network, implying that it was a fake, as the death of an actor of Christopher Lloyd would be significant news on all networks.
